Elensis
Description
Elensis is a product whose active ingredients have been carefully selected to optimise energy use of ruminants.
In the rumen, part of the nutrients in the ration is transformed into volatile fatty acids (VFA) which are precursors of glucose. The energy efficiency is not identical according to the different VFAs produced. The active ingredients in Elensis were therefore chosen for their targeted action in the rumen and for their effect on the profile of VFAs produced (mainly propionic acid).
Some of the active ingredients are also released in the digestive tract to help improve the energy digestibility of the diet.
Elensis can be used in formulation. This involves re-optimising the ration or a feed with more economically competitive energy sources by taking into account the nutritional value of Elensis.
When the objective is to correct limiting nutritional criteria and thus improve zootechnical performance (milk production and DWG in beef and sheep), Elensis is used by adding it to the ration through a supplementation in the feed and thus contributes to balance the energy of the ration.
Trials conducted by Techna at AgroParisTech showed that using Elensis resulted in a 5% reduction in enteric methane per litre of corrected milk.
