BENNAMANN / NEW HOLLAND France Small-scale biomethane recovery for a negative carbon footprint
Description
New Holland and Bennamann have developed a modular, high-performance and economically sustainable solution for recovering and using compressed biomethane (Bio-GNC), by capturing fugitive emissions from effluent storage. Existing or retrofitted slurry storage on a dairy farm is covered with a two-compartment tarpaulin. Once the pit was covered, a farm with 90 dairy cows / 150 LU in Cornouaille produced, for example, 20 t of bio-GNC. A New Holland T6.180 Methane Power tractor (155 hp) was used for 900 hours, and 55 MWh of electricity were produced with the generator, i.e. 85% of the milking plant's needs. What's more, in a region with annual rainfall of up to 1,500 mm, covering the slurry storage pit avoids dilution phenomena.
