French cattle farming is among the most sustainable on the planet. Based on an autonomous and grassland system, it provides numerous environmental services, such as the protection of biodiversity and the sequestration of carbon in the soil, and contributes positively to the preservation of landscapes. Furthermore, it meets high standards in terms of health, ecology and animal welfare. These assets must be promoted by the beef industry to meet the major challenge of food sovereignty. To discuss this, INTERBEV is organizing a conference which will allow discussions on these crucial issues: what levers should operators in the sector activate to stop decapitalization and ensure France's food sovereignty? Does the relocation of the fattening of some of the animals currently exported constitute a sustainable trend? Under what conditions will a vibrant and rewarding export market be maintained, in a changing economic and regulatory context (health, animal welfare)? More than ever, the sector needs visibility and clear rules to create value while sustaining the export of quality animals to its customers.
