Harnessing the albedo of grasslands to mitigate climate change
Oct 3, 2023 — 10:30 am - 11:00 AMSalle de conférence 3
Salle de conférence 3
Information
The albedo of grassland reflects sunlight more than crops and bare soil, thereby reducing atmospheric warming linked to the infra-red radiation returned by the surface. This biogeophysical effect complements the carbon storage provided by grasslands, giving ruminant systems an additional advantage in mitigating climate change. The results presented are those of the Casdar Albédo-Prairies project.
