Cereal straw is most used for livestock feeding or litter but some other uses now appear. Because of it, availability and price of straw cereal are very volatile. The main issues in cattle breeding are production optimisation throught the choice of cereal species or variety and the culture pratices but also by the judicious use in litter. In the case of a lack of straw production some materials could reprensent an alternative for livestock litter.
