Cereal straw for livestock : production optimisation, uses and alternatives as litter.
Cereal straw is most used for livestock feeding or litter but some other uses now appear. Because of it, availability and price of straw cereal are very volatile. The main issues in cattle breeding are production optimisation throught the choice of cereal species or variety and the culture pratices but also by the judicious use in litter. In the case of a lack of straw production some materials could reprensent an alternative for livestock litter.

Treesition : Focus on agroforestry
Treesition transforms the tree into a financial product that connects money from cities to rural areas. The first pilot with the Paulownia has shown that the model works and is of interest to both farmers and investors. Farmland is too simple. Trees help to structure soils, improve ecosystems and act as a buffer against climatic accidents. Thanks to our partnerships with farmers, we are enabling a conversion to higher quality, sustainable production, while ensuring our food sovereignty. To achieve this, each of our partners receives financial support and guidance from our agricultural engineers, who ensure the effective transition and management of agroforestry projects.

Maillage vétérinaire : constats et solutions
How would livestock farming function tomorrow without veterinarians? The demographic of rural veterinarians in our territories is steadily declining. Faced with this observation, a Call for Expressions of Interest allowed, in 2022, 11 territories to carry out diagnoses to assess their respective situations and highlight levers for action to prevent veterinary desertification. During this conference, the main results and levers following these diagnoses will be presented. Flat-rate payment will be a specific example of one of these identified avenues: an opportunity to discuss the advantages and drawbacks of this new way of remunerating veterinarians and the positive impact it could have on the network and for livestock farming. The discussion will conclude with a presentation of the work and actions implemented by the national veterinary network monitoring unit.

Feder : Agrivoltaism, a diversification opportunity for livestock farming
Agrivoltaism is a new form of production that will help to meet national targets for the production of renewable energy. It is also a genuine way of diversifying cattle and sheep production, in synergy with the latter. In fact, a well thought-out project can bring additional income to the farm, independent of the economic ups and downs of the sector or its health. Agrivoltaism is also a way of adapting to climate change (creating shade, lengthening the grass growth cycle, protecting animals from bad weather, encouraging rotational grazing, protecting troops from predators). These advantages need to be optimised by a preliminary study targeting the current system and enabling this synergy to be created. It is therefore essential to frame these projects properly upstream with experts in livestock production, if this synergy is to succeed. This is also the key to ensuring that these disruptive projects are accepted locally.
